Confidence is high in the Blackburn Hawks camp ahead of their double header with Sutton Sting.

The Hawks welcome the Sting to the Blackburn Arena today (5.45pm) for a NLN Cup encounter before making the reverse trip tomorrow for a NIHL Moralee Conference clash.

Jared Owen’s side go into the games on the back of a morale-boosting 4-2 win over Billingham Stars last weekend – and a high quality training session on Thursday.

It was a session in which new overseas star Jon Adams showed off his finishing skills.

The Canadian will make his Hawks debut today if his international transfer card comes through in time.

Hawks player-coach Owen, who expects to be at full strength for both matches, said: “Jon has looked really sharp.

“He’s a good skater and he handles the puck really well – he looks exactly the type of player we need.

“It was a massive win over Billingham and we really played well, right from the start of the game all the way through to the end.

“Sutton are doing well, they’ve had some very good results.

“I’m sure they’ll see it as two games that they can win – but we do too.

“We want the Billingham win to kick-start our season.”
