The opening Sunday of the Northern Youth Conference saw Lancashire Wolverine Colts travel to the John Charles Stadium, Leeds, to face the rookie Yorkshire Rams franchise.
Both teams went into the game confidently, but the Rams took a 2-0 lead after a messy first quarter.
The first-half showed little more efficient offense, and the half ended with Lancashire trailing by two points.
After a half-time team-talk, the Lancashire offense came out firing, and the young Colts attack started to move the ball on the ground.
Rookie half-back Eden Quigley racked up a percentage of his 237 yards on the ground.
With the Rams shocked by the onslaught of yardage, Quigley made his way into the endzone from 50 yards out to give Lancashire the lead.
Quarterback Johnny Glover then improvised with a well-executed boot to convert the extra two points.
Entering the fourth quarter 8-2 up, with defensive lineman Christian Facchin and the experienced hands of cornerback Chris Martin help run the show, the Colts began to show further dominance.
The game was as good as settled when team captain James Lago powered home from a few yards out to make the score 14-2. Quigley struck the two point conversion.
As the game drew to a close, Lancashire asserted their running strengths once again, offensive MVP Quigley sprinting home from 15 yards out. Although failing with the two-point conversion, Lancashire's defense earned the missing two points, with defensive captain Craig Davidson forcing a safety in the final seconds.
