IT just seems to be getting better and better for talented young boxer Ibrahim Shah.

Just weeks after he was invited to the Mayor's parlour to honour his feats in the ring, the 12-year-old has been at it again - winning gold on his England debut.

The Audley Amateur Boxing Club member was selected to represent England after winning a silver medal in last month's national Golden Gloves finals.

Ibrahim became the Blackburn's club first ever Golden Gloves finalist and also its first Northern Counites champion.

His Golden Gloves exploits earned him an England call-up and he represented his country in the Three Nations Tournament at the Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

The competition saw England go in to battle against teams from Scotland and Wales. After winning through to the semi finals, Ibrahim was given a walk-over' in to the final after his Scottish opponent pulled out at the last minute.

Ibrahim was in line to face England team-mate Michael Dumphy who beat him in the Golden Gloves final.

But Dumphy was out-pointed by Welsh youngster Mark Thompson.

In the final, Ibrahim put in a near faultless display against the Penarth ABC fighter, eventualy winning 13-3 on points.

"It was a very convincing win for Ibrahim and we are very proud of him," said coach and club founder Yacoob Hussain.

Meanwhile, the club is hosting a boxing show at Audley Sports Centre on Friday night. Contact Yacoob Hussain on 07787 570173 for ticket details.
