MIKEY Worswick is aiming to clinch a ‘triology’ of world kick boxing titles.

The Accrington fighter, who won the ISKA World middleweight title last year, fights for the light middleweight belt in November and has also set his sights on the super middleweight crown as he attempts to complete a clean sweep.

The 25-year-old will fight the reigning light middleweight champion, Jose Rodriguez of Spain, at Hyndburn sports centre in Accrington on November 4 - just over a year after winning his own world title.

And Worswick will be hoping he reigns against Spain once again having stopped Rodriguez’s compatriot Pedro Martinez inside two minutes last October at Audley Sports Centre in Blackburn.

Worswick, a brick layer with Ultraframe in Clitheroe, has had to kick his heels this year having seen the first defence of his title cancelled.

But coach Jason Curtis at Kokoro Kickboxing says the chance to win a second title at a different weight is just what his fighter wants.

“We were let down by a French opponent for Mikey’s first defence of his middleweight title so we have taken on this super fight instead.

“Our aim is to complete the trilogy of titles at middleweight by capturing the light middleweight and super middleweight titles on top of the ones he holds.

“It should be a great night and we are all looking forward to it.”

The show will feature numerous local fighters including Kokoro’s youngest star, Tyree Holden, from Blackburn who is challenging for the Best of the Best title 2017 involving six of the best juniors in Britain.
