AFC Darwen Under 14s had a year to remember in 2016.

The talented team went through the entire calendar year undefeated which culminated with winning the Red Division in the East Lancashire Football Alliance.

They proved to be too good for their rivals, finishing six points clear of Rossendale Valley Tigers with a record of seven wins and a draw, scoring 51 goals and conceded just 11 on their march to the title.

Manager Neil Cameron is thrilled with his team’s title-winning efforts.

“The lads have actually gone the whole of 2016 undefeated in competitive league and cup games which is a brilliant achievement,” said Cameron.

“During this time they have played some great football and just as importantly battled hard when needed and developed a great team spirit.”

AFC Darwen moved over from neighbouring club Darwen Rangers at the end of the 2015/2016 season and haven’t looked back.

They have begun the ELFA ‘winter’ league in the same fashion, winning both of the games they have played so far. And while they trail leaders Tigers by three, AFC Darwen have two games in hand.
