LONGRIDGE Town are flying high after Brad Carsley’s double lifted them to the summit of the Premier League with a 4-0 win over Thornton Cleveleys.

Lee Ashcroft’s side have proved unstopabble at home this season, and with George Melling and Alex O’Rourke also on the scoresheet, Town cruised to their sixth home success at Inglewhite Road.

Longridge can boast a two point advantage over champions Blackpool Wren Rovers who recorded an easy 5-2 win at Eagley.

Former Bury and Preston North End midfielder Simon Whaley was on the mark for the home side.

Turton also lost at home, 3-1 to Lostock St Gerards who saw Oliver Oxley score twice.

Haslingden St Mary’s have made a promising start to their Division One campaign, but third placed CMB proved too strong for them on this occasion.

Scott Wylie fired St Mary’s in front early on, but then CMB stepped up a gear to post a deserved 3-1 success at Tempest Road.

But Mill Hill St Peters were in the winning groove, crushing Burscough Richmond 5-2 to post their second home win of the season thanks to goals from Jack Errey, Declan Thompson, Liam Bullen, Liam Hoyle and Steven Close.

Hurst Green, though, tasted defeat, 3-1 at Milnthorpe Corinthians.

Jake Craven gave Hurst Green the lead after 90 seconds, but the Cumbrians were level before half time and then two second half goals ended the visitors’ challenge.

Strugglers Ladybridge were on the end of an embarrassing 8-0 home defeat to Poulton, who saw Andy Harvie score four times as the leaders ran riot.

In Division Two, Hurst Green’s second string were edged out 1-0 by Walney Island at Smithy Row.

Mill Hill St Peters Reserves also crashed to defeat, 4-0 at Lostock St Gerards.

Haslingden St Mary’s also conceded four at Lytham Town, with James Goodyear grabbing their consolation goal late on. Tempest were the big winners, thrashing Turton 6-2.
