TWO East Lancashire bowlers have helped Team Manchester win the ECB City Cup after beating South London at the Fischer County Ground in Leicester.

Great Harwood CC’s Adam Masood and Mo Bhada of East Lancs were among the wickets for the Manchester team coached by Farouk Hussain who also coaches at Ribble Valley Raiders.

And with Burnley’s Jhangir Liaquat heavily involved in the earlier stages, it was a victory that was very much made in East Lancashire.

Batting first, Team Manchester finished on 154-9 from their alloted overs with Mustafa Durrani from Preston CC top scoring with 56.

The run chase by South London was in the balance for while wickets fell at regular intervals, the board kept ticking and a close game looked on the cards.

However some excellent bowling from Manchester - with Masood taking 1-18 and Bhada 2-4 - saw South London dismissed for 91.

Team Manchester, overseen by the LCB, consisted of players selected on the back of an extensive Talent Search for players aged 16-21, leading to the delivery of a local City Cup involving five squads of players with Manchester being selected on the back of that competition.
