TO celebrate the summer and show support while the Great Britain Cycling Team race against the best in the world at the Olympics and Paralympics, Cycle Sport Pendle is holding a Go-Ride session for youngsters to jump on their bikes and take part.
Join your local cycling club on Saturday at Steven Burke Sports Hub to take part in some cycle fun!
The activities will be run by qualified British Cycling coaches and will take place on a traffic free area with exciting challenges in store.
The Go-Ride Summer of Cycling is a national festival designed to offer children entry-level coaching and competition on the bike, riding with friends and young club members.
Riders will be able to take part in group coaching to improve bike handling skills, followed by some fun short races. There will be chances to win some prizes including t-shirts and wristbands, while supporters are welcome to attend to wave flags and cheer them on!
Laura Trott, a current world champion who is heading for Rio, first started cycling at Welwyn Wheelers Go-Ride Club.
She said:
“It’s going to be a really exciting summer for racing and it’s fantastic that kids will have the chance to be part of it at their local Go-Ride Clubs.”
Go-Ride is British Cycling’s grassroots development program for under-16s, focusing on fun competition and bike skills. There are 300 Go-Ride Clubs in England, giving young people the chance to try various cycling disciplines through challenging sessions and friendly competition."
