SUPER swimmer star Isaac Brennand has qualified for the ASA National Summer Championships.

The 13-year-old competed at Ponds Forge in Sheffield in the 100m breaststroke and came first in 1:15:22 – his personal best - which secured him a place in the 13-14 age group at the national championships at the beginning of August.

Isaac, a pupil at Holy Cross Catholic High School, will be one of the youngest in his event after a slight alteration of the age groupings for the 2016 championships as Isaac competes against the best in England.

“Just to get to the final, to be in the top eight, would be huge,” said Isaac.

“I have started training five times a week, I used to train four times, so it is getting harder and more competitive but it is paying off.”

The top 24 ranked swimmers in Britain in each age grouping compete at the British Summer Championships which take place in July while the next 20, which Isaac is, are invited to the ASA National Summer Championships.

Isaac, who started swimming at primary school, used to swim for Chorley Marlins but is now part of Bolton Metro with his strongest stroke the 100m breaststroke.
