T was a mixed bag of results for junior Lowerhouse teams in action recently.

The under-15 Sharks lost their derby clash against Burnley while the under-15 Dolphins slipped to defeat at Longridge.

However, the under-13s and under-11s both enjoyed victories.

Lowerhouse Sharks made the short trip to Burnley and, batting first, the hosts posted 106-4. Tom Halstead was the pick of the bowlers, taking 2-10.

In reply, Lowerhouse were dismissed for 88, with Jack Simm (18), Kheiro Chir (13) and James Wearden (11) the pick of the batsmen.

The Dolphins suffered a similar fate at Longridge. Chasing the hosts’ total of 98-6 — with Luke Mulcahy taking 3-3 and Tom Halstead 3-10 — the Lowerhouse side finished on 73-3. Jack Simm scored a superb unbeaten 51, with Josh Sutcliffe unbeaten on 26. Chir weighed in with 19.

There was better news for the under-13 Panthers who beat Ramsbottom. Batting first, Lowerhouse hit 108-8 with Ibrahim Rehman top-scoring with an unbeaten 22. Yousaf Nadeem (20), Libby Heap (13) and James Bridge (10) all contributed.

In reply, Ramsbottom scored 85-5.

James Bridge scored an unbeaten 33 as the under-13 Lions beat Salesbury.

Batting first, Lowerhouse scored 299-1 with Mohammed Hussain (18 not out) and Aden Aurangzeb (10 not out) also among the runs.

Heap then took 2-12 as Salesbury finished on 236-4.

The under-11 Bears were also in the winning groove.

George Durkin (27), Nathan Porter (15), Keagan de Vries (11) and Dec Metcalfe (10) contributed to Lowerhouse’s total of 278-6. In reply, Bacup finished on 217-3.

The Bears progressed to the third round of the Lancashire Junior League Cup thanks to a convincing win over Haslingden.

Joel Sharpe and de Vries top-scored with 23 each, Dec Metcalfe (19) and Oliver Williams (11 not out) pushing the Lowerhouse total to 269-5.

In reply, Haslingden scored 188-7. Sharpe took 2-4.
