FULLEDGE Colts Under 14s have turned their fortunes on its head after going from basement boys to league champions in the space of three seasons.

The Colts won the East Lancashire Football Alliance Under 14s Blue division with an impressive record of 14 wins and just two defeats to take the title.

It was a far cry from when manager Andrew Ellis, coach Gary Moore and assistant Dave Henderson took over the team two seasons ago, when Fulledge finished rock bottom of the Under 12s Blue division with just one win and four points - a mighty 27 points adrift of champions Darwen Rangers.

The following season, they fared slightly better, winning three games and picking up nine points as they climbed one league position but were still a hefty 25 points behind winners Readstone Juniors.

However, this season everything clicked in to place for the classy Colts who topped the table with 42 points, three ahead of Hyndburn Youth who they trailed by six points the previous campaign.

The team also produced the league;s top scorers with Nail Sawley scoring an incredible 41 goals with Jordan Henderson weighing in with 34 of his own.

"When we took over we finished bottom of the table and now, three years later, we are league champions," said Ellis. "The league came to Towneley to present the team with there trophy and winners medals and used none alcoholic champagne to celebrate with which was very funny to see!"

The team are looking forward to next season after being promoted to the Under 15s Yellow division and they have no intention of starting from the bottom again.

Fulledge Colts are now looking for a local sponsor to help with new kit for next season and anyone who would like to help should contact Andrew Ellis at andrewellis7@aol.com

The team included: Jack Ellis, Alex Bolt, Caine Hoyle, Lewis Mckechnie, Ethan Corless, Lewis Helps, Matty Cheetham, William Moore, Naill Sawley, Dec Roberts, Tyler Cardwell, Harry Mcivor, Stanley Grewal and Jordan Henderson.
