GLENN Stock is set to get a shot at an English kick boxing title after picking up the WRSA North West Area belt at Shin-Gi-Tai Gym's highly-successful first home show of the year.

The competition, which was held at Burnley College's impressive facilities, saw 12 fighters from the Colne-based club in action which included Aurimas Jonusas winning the North West Area -76-kg title.

Stock will fight for the national title in November while Jonusas, who is originally from Lithuania, did his chances of fighting for bigger and better belts no harm at all following an impressive second round stoppage of Martin Cliffe.

Top of the bill was the contest between William 'Goldie' Galloway from Blackpool and Lewis Greenhall from Premier Tai Boxing in St Helen's for the English K1 title in a bout that thrilled the 500 plus supporters who crammed in to the college.

But elsewhere it was all about Shin-Gi-Tai fighters who put on impressive performances in both kick boxing and semi professional boxing.

Sam Larkin, took his fight record to three wins and two defeats with a devastating first round KO of his opponent while Magdalena Drlowska wasted little time in completing her victory, seeing of her oppenent with two minutes.

Also in boxing, there were wins for Kev Richardson, Ale Voroncov and Aleksandrs Golubeus.

James Larkin narrowly lost on points and Craig Bradshaw's bout ended in a draw.

Johnny Goulding made his C Class Thai Boxing debut and while it ended in defeat, he entertain supporters in one of the fights of the evening.

And Tom Higgins, also competing in C Class Thai Boxing, defeated Jazz Farooq to keep the home fans happy.

The show raised £300 for Pendleside Hospice and senior instructor Craig McMillan is hoping a second show planned for September is equally as successful.

"The facilities at Burnley College are second to none and I would like to thank everyone there for supporting us," said McMillan. "The let us train and use them premises and for that I am very grateful.

"The event itself was a great success and we raised some vital funds for Pendleside Hospice which is something we like to do.

"In the ring there were some great performances. The top of the bill clash between Galloway and Greenhall was a real way and had everyone on the edge of their seats.

"But it was also a successful night for our fighters as well and it was great to finish the evening with two North West area belts."
