AMY Davies was in superb form at the recent Inter Counties Cross Country Championships in Birmingham where she was once again the top Lancashire runner in her age group.

The 12-year-old from Blackburn completed her cross country season in an impressive 51st position in a field of 302 runners who raced around a fast and hilly course at Cofton Park.

The St Bede's pupil finished just 54 seconds behind the overall winner.

Amy, who is also a member of Blackburn Harriers, was also first Lancashire girl at the England Counties Cross Country Championships which were held in Nottingham the previous week where she finished 93rd out of 339 runners.

It has been a fine season for the youngster who won the Blackburn and Darwen Year 8/9 and Lancashire cross country titles.

She also won the Under 13s Lancashire Cross Country Championship and finished in second place in the Northern Cross County finals and enjoyed success in the Mid Lancs and Red Rose leagues.
