MORE than 200 pupils took part in the annual St Bede’s biathlon held in memory of former pupil and sports enthusiast Adam Rogers.

The competition was first held last year to honour Adam who, while on a night out in July 2009 with his friends, was punched and later died from his injuries.

His parents, Pat and Dave, set up Every Action has Consequences Charity in their son’s memory.

Head of Physical Education Mark Ashworth said “This is a fantastic event and an important part of the St Bede’s sporting calendar.

“This is a test of effort and personal endeavour. Whenever possible we will continue to support the Rogers family.”

Pupils ran either 800m or 1600m and swam 50m, 100m or 200m depending on the age category.

GCSE students organised the time keeping of the event which took place at East Lancashire Cricket Ground and the swimming pool at QEGS.

All pupils who competed in the event received a medal sponsored tby Access Ability.

Adam’s Trophy was presented to overall champion Year Nine pupil Jake Jose who completed the swim in 1mins 13secs and the run in 7 mins 11secs.
