Rossendale 17 Aldwinians 14
ROSSENDALE edged out Aldwinians to win in a close encounter at Marl Pits.
The visitors started the game strongly and, within five minutes, scored the game’s opening try after Dale lost their own lineout inside their twenty-two.
A few minutes later, Aldwinians scored again to open up an early 14-0 lead.
But credit to Dale, the recovered from their early set back and Mark Rutherford-Shaw sliced through the Aldwinians defence to score after good work by Jacob Taylor and Isaac Cornwall. Will Walmsley adding the extras.
The game swung Dale’s way in the second half and Rutherford-Shaw scored a second try after racing on to an intelligent kick from Walmsley.
And Idrees Nazir grabbed the winning try, picking up at the base of the scrum and smashed through a couple of tackles to score.
