Blackburn Nrth Mens 1sts 8 Crewe Vagrants 2nds 3

BLACKBURN Northern returned to winning ways in emphatic style with a comprehensive 8-3 win against Crewe Vagrants.

Northern bounced back from defeat against Bangor University - their first league loss in almost a year - although they had to come from a goal down.

Dawid Wieczorek drew Northern level from a short corner routine before Stuart Grant fired them ahead soon after some impressive build up play.

Wieczorek made it 3-1 from another short corner then completed a first half hat-trick with a fine reverse strike.

Blackburn immediately capitalised on a poor Crewe pushback and Shaun Makin found George Roberts to make it 5-1 although Crewe pulled one back before half time from a deflected corner.

But there was to be no comeback as Julian Monk made it 6-2 early in the second half, converting another open play goal.

Wieczorek made it 7-2 soon after to grab his fourth of the day but Crewe kept fighting and scored a third goal.

Grant then converted his second and Northern’s eighth to complete the scoring.

Clitheroe & Blackburn Ladies 2nds 13 Blackpool Ladies 1sts 0

THERE was nothing unlucky about this 13 as the league leaders made light work of rock bottom Blackpool.

Emily Winter led the goal charge, finding the net twice in quick succession followed by goals from Liz Collins, a 15-minute hat-trick from Anna Leigh, Nic Dugdale and Jill Middleton as the home side romped to an 8-0 lead at the break.

Middleton completed her hat-trick in the second half with two more goals to make it 10-0 before Angela Allen and Jean Darby got in on the act.

Leigh grabbed her fourth to complete the scoring.

The Seconds now face a tough trip to second-placed Leyland & Chorley.
