OSWALDTWISTLE Rangers Under 16s carried on their unbeaten league form in the cup after sealing a 4-2 victory over Wilpshire Wanderers Red in an entertaining clash at St Augustine’s School.

Rangers, currently top of their division in the Accrington and District Junior Boys League, were made to work for their victory against a hard-working Wanderers side.

The Oswaldtwistle outfit are six points clear at the top of the table having won five and drawn one of their six league games so far.

But Wanderers, one off the bottom of the table with just one win, certainly gave the leaders a game before they sealed their place in the second round of the Genesis Sports Cup.

There was another top end versus bottom end of the table clash and this one was even closer after second-placed Feniscowles and Pleasington beat lowly Blackburn United after extra time.

United, who have lost all six games, gave high-flying Fenny a real fright after the match finished 2-2 at the end of normal time before Feniscowles - who have not lost a game this season - edged the tie 3-2.

Also in the under 16s cup, Rishton United beat Clitheroe Wolves 2-1.

In the Under 15s cup, there was an all-Wilpshire Wanderers clash with the Blues getting the better of the Reds.

The tie went with league form with unbeaten leaders Wanderers Blues - who have won all six league games - beating Wanderers Reds 9-3.

Second-placed Briercliffe Rovers beat Oswaldtwistle Hawks Blue 5-2 while Oswaldtwistle Hawks Red booked their place in the next round with a 3-0 win over Clitheroe Wolves Green.

There was a shock in the Under 14s Cup when leaders Whalley Juniors slipped to a 3-2 defeat against Huncoat United White while third placed Mill Hill beat Rishton United 7-3 after extra time after the game ended 3-3.

Second-placed Globe Bullough Park eased through thanks to a 6-1 win over Huncoat United Black who are still looking for their frist win of the season.

And Wilpshire Wanderers beat Greyhound Juniors 4-0.
