CLITHEROE’S father and son pair of Eric and Adam Wallace beat all-comers from an entry of 64 pairs to win the Waddington Floodlight Open Doubles bowling competition. After two weeks of qualifying rounds, the final eight assembled on Thursday night to play for the title.

In the quarter finals, Adam and Eric took on Blackburn’s Paul Brett and Dave Hoyle and after a good start ran out comfortable winners at 21-10.

The semi final was a repeat of last year’s final against Dave Walker and Arron Harrison but this time the Clitheroe pair reversed the result by winning by 21-14.

In the final, against Burnley pair of Matt Harrison and Phillip Wilkinson from St Andrews, Adam and Eric opened up a useful lead and never looked back as they ran out 21-11 winners.

A vote of thanks was given to organisers Wendy and Bill Rome who thanked all markers, measurers and kitchen helpers for their efforts before the prizes were presented by Andrew Warburton who represented the sponsors Bowland Brewery.
