PAT Holt is the toast of the Ribble Valley as she added her name to a century old bowling roll of honour.

And Holt’s victory roll means she is only the second lady to win the Ribblesdale Cup, first played for in 1914, since Brenda Pilling claimed the silverware thirteen years ago.

Staged at Ribblesdale Wanderers Cricket and Bowling Club, the Ribblesdale Bowling Handicap Cup once again attracted an excellent entry.

In the quarter-finals, Holt was forced to work hard for her victory in a terrific tussle against Marion Niven before eventually emerging victorious 21-17.

The semi-final ties were held over for three days due to rain, however when the matches resumed Holt proved too strong for Gordon Dixon, clinching a place in the final courtesy of a 21-12 win.

The final saw her meet Martin Rimmer and this time the victory margin was even more emphatic, claiming the title 21-11.

Rimmer had fought through to the final after wins over Mark Graham and Duncan Niven – but Holt proved too strong.

The competition was organised by Chris Snape and the cup was presented by Mark Graham.
