Rossendale 12, Kirkby Lonsdale 12
A GAME played over two 30 minute plus one 20 minute sessions was not a recipe for continuity rugby but following on from their opening salvo against Otley last week this was yet another good work out for the Marl Pits outfit.
Rossendale took the early lead in the first session with a try from Chris Frodsham the outside half coming up in support of a break by new centre Mark Thompson.
In the second period a catch and drive from a penalty to touch brought just reward for Paddy Pole who went over for the second, Frodsham adding the extras.
Just before the close Kirkby Lonsdale went over for a try, adding a second in the third period, the conversion bringing the scores level.
Among a number of good performances new second row Tom Jones looked a useful asset and his partnership with Pole in the second row should provide some real drive to the set piece and offer exciting options at the line out when battle commences away at Wirral on 5th September.
