THE EAST Lancashire League will return to action this weekend with champions Rimington hosting Stacksteads St Joseph's at the Coulhurst Jubilee Field at 2.15pm on Saturday (August 22).

After 15 years at the club manager Terry Braithwaite stood down after last season's title success, and he has been replaced by Mark Wilson, who has big boots to fill.

Elsewhere Burnley Athletic, who finished third last season, take on Langho at Bank Hall, while newly promoted AFC Darwen travel to Holden Road to take on Burnley Belvedere.

The final game in the First Division on Saturday sees last season's Second Division champions Whinney Hill, who also won two cup competitions in 2014/15, host Mill Hill at their Burnley Road ground.

In the second tier Prairie United, who missed out on promotion by one point, start their campaign at Edisford Bridge, while relegated Read United head to Rishton FC.

Newchurch will host Rosegrove Railway, Colne United are at Peel Park and Waddington FC travel to Bellholme Sports Centre to face Todmorden Borough.

They are three fixtures in the Reserve Division, with Mill Hill hosting Burnley Belvedere at Griffin Park, Read United at home to Enfield and Rock Rovers travelling to Stacksteads St Joseph's.
