LAURA Massaro returned to the court but this time it was to hand out trophies rather than win them.

The world number four from Chorley was at her home town club to support and encourage youngsters who were taking part in a junior tournament.

The 31-year-old, who won the British Open and and World Open titles in 2013, was thrilled to see young players enjoying the game at the competition held at David Lloyd Chorley.

And some of them got to compete on the 'Massaro Court' which has been specially adapted to help her train for tournaments across the world.

"It's great that I've had an opportunity to get involved with the juniors down at David Lloyd," said Massaro who won two silver medals at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow last year. "I'm so pleased to see them competing and enjoying their squash.

"Grassroots squash is so important, not only for the game in general but also for kids getting to play sport and getting some exercise in.

"I will always help where I can to support grass roots squash and look forward to doing more at David Lloyd with the juniors in the future."

The Juniors at the club battled it out over four hours of play with 14-year-old Jake Heaton emerging as club junior champion after beating Sam Lawrenson 2-0 in the final, winning 11-8 and 11-9.

It was a hard fought contest with Lawrenson getting closer and closer as the match progressed.

But in the end it was Heaton's speed around court proved to be the difference, winning the final game by a close two-point margin.

He received the 2015 DL Junior Squash Trophy and a goody bag supplied by David LLoyd Chorley management team.

Youngsters aged 8 to 15-year-old took part in the event with Grace Abberley taking the highest ranked girl prize and received a Laura Massaro 305 squash vest.
