NATASHA Rogan and Niahm Robinson recently took part in the British Swimming Championships at the London Aquatics Centre and it proved to be a great experience for the two Pioneer 79 Swimming Club youngsters.

Rogan, 14, went to the Olympic Park looking to get a time to earn selection for the European Olympic Festival.

It wasn’t the best of starts for Natasha who was off the pace in her first three events - 100m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 100m backstroke.

But she came back strongly, setting two PBs in the 100m butterfly and another one in the 50m freestyle.

In the 100m butterfly, Rogan reached the final after lowering her best time to 1min 06.45secs. She was seventh in the final with an even quicker 1min 06.12secs. In the 50m freestyle she produced a new PB of 28.69secs, just missing out on a final. In the 200m backstroke, Rogan was just off target finishing 18th in 2min 27.29secs.

Robinson went looking to achieve qualification time for the European Games in Baku and while she missed out she came away with a number of Isle of Man records, Commonwealth Youth Games consideration times and new PBs.

In the 200m breaststroke final, she set a new PB of 2min 34.39secs which was also a new IOM Junior/Senior Long Course Record and also an IOM Commonwealth Youth Games Consideration Time.

In the 200m IM, Robinson was fourth in the final and her time of 2mins 20.27secs was another IOM CYG consideration time.

She produced the swim of her life in the 100m breaststroke, finishing in fourth place in 1min 10.59secs but agonisingly just 0.3secs outside the Baku qualification time.

But again it was another PB, a new IOM junior and senior long course record and an IOM CYG consideration time.

In her final event, she was 16th in the400m IM in 5min 08.04secs -another IOM CYG Consideration Time.
