A GROUP of fighters from Colne gave and took a pounding for pounds as they helped raised funds for a worthy cause.
Members of the Colne-based Shin Gi Tai Gym took part in an inter club tournament to help raise funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The one day event was held in Haydock and was organised by Fighting Machines Promotion which is run by Craig Neild.
The fund-raising event included both Thai boxing and boxing bouts - where some of the fighters were making their competitive inter club debuts.
And at the end of the day, it was not just Alder Hey who emerged as winners as the Shin Gi Tai Gym fighters all had successful debuts.
Experienced Thai boxing coach Craig MacMillan took a team of four fighters that included three junior fighters - Joe Nolan, Jay Nolan and Joe Clarke who all won inter club titles - and also senior fighter Tom Higgins.
Craig Bradshaw coached the boxing pair of Craig Bradshaw and Aurimas Jousas. Bradshaw Junior took part in four man boxing tournament and he ended up winning the Fighting Machines belt.
MacMillan said: “It was a great event for all the fighters to take part in and it was for a very worthy cause, raising funds for Alder Hey Children’s Hospital. It was good for the youngsters to get their first taste of an inter club event and for them to win made it a little bit more special.”
