THE recently formed Ribble Valley Raiders Cricket Club will be holding weekly training sessions for girls and boys.

The community orientated club, set up by local cricketing enthusiast Farouk Hussain and a team of volunteer ECB qualified coaches, aims to encourage greater numbers of children to take up the sport by providing differentiated, fun sessions ā€“ all at no cost.

The free outdoor cricket coaching is for children aged four to 18-years-old and will be based at Roefield playing fields, Clitheroe.

The sessions begin on Thursday, April 16, primary school children (6-7pm) and for those who attend secondary school (7-8pm).

Hussain, who previously coaches Clitheroe Cobras CC, said: "Iā€™m thrilled to be back helping local children to experience the positive physical, emotional and social benefits of the game.

"The Raiders will provide more than just high quality coaching. We will deliver the whole cricketing package includingage related fixtures, festivals, visits to county and International matches, cricket tours for the young cricketers, as well as offering a welcoming social environment for the whole family.
