“In the last 42 years I have coached the father and the son and daughter who to box,” said Yaqoob. “ I think it is a proud moment for the club.”

And Yaqoob believes Seyer has a bright future ahead of her if her first bout its anything to go by.

The tournament was organised by O’Dells Community Pride ABC at The Firs Club, Bromford , in Birmingham where Seyer was up against fellow rookier Ceri-Anne O’Dell from the host club.

Seyer started off attacking from the first bell, landing telling combinations to the head and body which forced the referee to step in within the first 30 seconds to give O’Dell a mandatory standing count.

But there was not let up for the Birmingham girl as Seyer continue to pile on the pressure, landing and right cross and left hook to the body which forced O’Dell’s corner to throw the towel in and retire their Boxer “Seyer is our first female boxer and she has done the club proud,” added Yaqoob who is hoping to put on a home show in May.

“She has a very promising future ahead of her. She has the right attitude towards the hard training and the graft that goes with the sport.”

Seyer’s dad and brother now help help Yaqoob run the club along with Dave Grierson.
