WENSLEY Fold Primary Academy in Blackburn has been presented with its Gold School Games Award.
The Sainsbury’s School Games Mark is owned and created by the Department of Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) and is implemented and developed by the Youth Sport Trust and Sport England.
Wensley Fold are only the third school within Blackburn and Darwen to receive the award and less than five per cent of schools in the country will gain it.
The award rewards schools for their commitment to and the development of school sport and physical education and was first launched in June 2012.
Andrew Mercer, school games organisers for Blackburn and Darwen, praised the school and its teachers for its efforts.
“This is a fitting acknowledgement of the hard work and diligence of Helen Hardman, Katherine Livesey and Tony Allen the PE-Coordinators at the school.
“The award is also for the young people to recognise the active role young leaders take within the schools and the continued success the school gains at local and county competitions across a huge variety of sports and activities.
