34 goals were scored in the first four games local matches by the new year seven 7 boys football team at Haslingden High School.
The team has beaten all their Rossendale rivals in some style including beating, trouncing Alder Grange 8-0 and, All Saints 14-4, BRGS 10-1 and the B team beat Fearns 2-0.
They are one of the last eight teams still in the Lancashire Cup after some convincing wins. The last match saw them defeat the current title holders Bishop Rawsthorne 3-1. The seven 7-a-side team will now play Morecambe on January 30.
The boys have also reached the final stages of a national in the English Schools Football Association Playstation Uunder-12s 9-a-side Schools Cup, winning their last match against Burnley’s Blessed Trinity 4-1 on penalties. In total 663 teams entered the competition. PE teacher and football manager Nick Mooney is in an enviable position being able to pick his team from 50 regulars from Year 7 who turn up to training.
