DAVID Lloyd Chorley stand at the summit of the North-West Counties League as the campaign reached half way ahead of the Christmas break after winning there top of the table clash with Grove Park.

But for the first time this season, DL had to come from behind to win, Grove veteran Yawar Abbas getting the better of Guhan Senthilkumar to win 3-1 before Mark Radley beat Isaac Rawcliffe 3-2.

Suddenly, it looked like Chorley’s title bid was on the rocks, now trailing 2-0 overall.

But then Danny Massaro rode to the rescue, claiming Chorley’s first point with a 3-0 victory over Alex Cutts.

Team captain Chris Lengthorn went head to head with Morgan Hibberd but it was Lengthorn who took the honours to close the match out 3-1.

The final match saw professional Eddie Charlton, ranked 52 in the world, meet Morgan Hibberd, and it was Charlton who forged into a 2-0 lead.

Morgan hit back but Charlton took the fourth match and claimed a 3-1 win.
