DAVID Lloyd Chorley 1 remain on course for the North West Counties Squad League Division One title after beating Warrington 5-0.

Chorley completed a second successive whitewash without world champion Laura Massaro, who didn’t play this week.

First up was Charlie Cowie, who is a regular second team player but came in at five for the first team.

Charlie was up against it as he played veteran Pete Astbury. Pete used his accuracy going into the front of the court to get off to a 2-0 lead.

But Charlie re-grouped and stopped Astbury from cutting his short balls into the corners to level the score.

Going into a decider, Charlie continued to hit hard while Pete stopped taking Charlie into the front corners as much. A very close match between the two with Cowie coming through 12-10 in the fifth.

On the other court was captain Chris Lengthorn who was playing Adam Taylor. Chris started well by going 2-0 up, using his pace and accuracy to squeeze the errors from Taylor.

The third match saw Chris relax and see Taylor’s shots come off, but Chris got back on his game plan and won 3-1.

Next up was student Guhan Senthilkumar, who was playing Jim Brown.

Guhan was in good form and everything he hit seemed to fade off into the back corners, making it difficult for Brown. Guhan played effortless and error free squash to win 3-0.

That put Chorley 3-0 up and next up was their number one, Danny Massaro, who was playing Daniel Turner.

Massaro kept Turner pinned in the back left corner and withstood his crafty holds and flicks to come off with a 3-0 win.

Last match of the night was young Isaac Rawcliffe who was playing fellow junior squash player James Connor.

An impressive match saw Rawcliffe beat Connor 3-1.
