WORLD champion Laura Massaro made a winning return to action to keep David Lloyd Chorley 1 on course for the North West Counties Squash League Division One title.

The leaders went to Crewe defending an unbeaten start to the season and came away with a convincing 5-0 lead to extend their lead to 26 points at the top of the table.

Massaro, the world number two, was fourth on DL Chorley and took on Stuart Kirkby who managed to nick a game.

But Massaro kept moving the ball around the court and hitting into space really well to seal a routine 3-1 win.

Having a world champion in the team seemed to bring out the Crewe crowds and first on the court for DL Chorley was second team captain and Division number two player Paul Farina.

Farina got off to a slow start but kept his ball deep in the back corners and squeezed the errors from Paul Nash. It was pretty even through out and the score line reflected this.

At 2-2 Farina's first appearance for the 1st team was going to a decider. He started strong in the fifth and worked his opponent deep by then looking to take him short early. Farina took the fifth game 11-5 to give DL Chorley their first points of the night and to give Farina his first win ever in division 1.

Danny Massaro, Laura's husband was next on court, against Tom Allman and completed a clinical 3-0 win.

Up next was team captain Chris Lengthorn. He kept the pace high and forced the errors from Paul Chapman and made it a quick and easy 3-0.

Last match of the evening was Chorley's number 1 James Earles who recently returned from his first ever $5,000 PSA competition win in Poland and in was good spirits against other young professional, Taminder Gata Aura.

Earles played his clinical game, working Taminda front and back and using his classic hold to much affect.

Taminda re-grouped in the second and the games were tied at 1-1.

But Earles came out firing on all cylinders in the next two games, winning 11-2, 11-7 to give him the match 3-1 and to give DL Chorley another 5-0 win and 20 points.

David Lloyd Chorley play mid-table Warrington at home this week.
