BRITISH sporting icon Frank Bruno is coming to East Lancashire and it promises to be a real knockout.

The former WBC world heavyweight champion will be holding An Evening With... at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel next month.

Bruno will forever be remembered as one of Britain’s most popular fighters, three times challenging for the world title – losing on each occasion to Tim Witherspoon, Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis – before finally being crowned world champion after beating Oliver McCall on a memorable night at Wembley Stadium in September, 1995.

Bruno fought one more time, losing his first defence in his second clash with Tyson in Las Vegas. But by then, he had already cemented his place in the heart of the nation.

Blackburn’s Paul Booth of www.boxingspeakers.co.uk will MC the evening and for him it is a dream come true.

“Frank was my idol when I was growing up so to get to work with him is something of a dream come true.

“I have been lucky enough to have worked with him a few times now and he has got some great stories to tell.”

The evening, which will raise funds for Cancer Research UK and Help for Heroes, will be held at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel on Saturday, November 22.

It will also include comedian Mick Miller.

Tickets are priced £60 and for more details, contact Dave Parkinson on 07813 733810 or Paul Booth on 07775 861461.
