Trafford MV U15s 7 Rossendale U15s 37 An excellent team performance created by a blend of aggression and strength in both attack and defence and movement of the ball through the hands mean that Rossendale U15s came away from Finneybank Road with an impressive victory.
Ben Whitehead capped a man of the match performance with a hat-trick of tries. Further tries were scored by Jordan Fortune and James Willett, with three conversions from James Willetts.
Unfortunately, Rossendale’s discipline started to let them down, and appeared to be more concerned with refereeing decisions than playing their own game, and it was during this time that they allowed the big Trafford Number 8 to break through to score a converted try which ended the first half with Rossendale still well ahead.
With strong words of encouragement ringing in their ears, the boys went out in the second half to concentrate on their play, and it became evident that the re-found concentration and focus was telling.
The forwards got themselves back on top, mixing up strong drives, ‘pick and go’ moves and powerful rucking to keep the pressure on the home team.
Trafford defended well but Dale finally broke through and tries from Jordan Fortune to complete his hat-trick and Max Lyth and Hadley Newell plus conversions from Jordan Fortune and James Willetts completed an impressive win.
