Pendle 35 Mossley Hill 17 PENDLE soared to the summit of North Lancashire Division Two, overpowering a spirited Mossley Hill outfit 35-17 at Hodge House Playing Field.

Liam Canning set the ball rolling with his fourth try of the season, with Rob Lawless slotting over.

And Pendle quickly doubled their advantage – Getty Schinkel driving his way to the try line and Lawless again converting.

Mossley Hill hit back with a couple of uncoverted tries, but that provided a wake up call for Pendle as Nick Martin scored their third try of the game, Lawless adding the extra points as Pendle went in 21-10 ahead at half-time.

Pendle then earned a try scoring bonus point after Lee Rowland, Shaun Moss and Jammal Ashgar combined to send Sonny Waddington free for their fourth try of the game. Lawless converted to make it 28-10.

Mossley added a try and conversion but Pendle were determined to finish the job and when Carl Wiseman sprinted clear he looked sure to score until the cover defence stopped him in his tracks.

However, Lawless kept the attack going, and when Waddington was handed the ball in space, he raced away to score his second try of the contest. Lawless again added the conversion.
