Blackburn Northern Ladies won the Liebert Rosebowl after beating Manchester Northern LTC by 5 rubbers to 3 in a closely fought final.

It is the third time Northern have won Lancashire’s top ladies team event but the first time since 2000.

The winning team, led by captain Michelle Watts, included Debbie Catlow, Aileen Hext, Susan Liver, Lucy Hunt, Liz Maskell and Roberta Holtby.

Victory in the Liebert Rosebowl final tops off a fantastic summer season for Blackburn Northern and helps consolidate its position as one of the county’s premier tennis clubs.

The club enters teams in the National Club League, the Roscoe (men’s) and Liebert (ladies) county knockout competitions as well as National Veterans competitions.

In addition, seven teams – Open, Ladies, Mixed and Junior – compete in the Slazinger East Lancashire League.

Recently, Blackburn Northern A finished top of Open Division 1 and will be joined in 2015 by Blackburn Northern C after promotion from Open Division 2.

The club offers a comprehensive range of competitive and social tennis at all levels and for all ages.

It also has a highly successful coaching programme offering both group and individual lessons for adults and juniors.

And there is more good news as a number of players from Blackburn Northern will represent Great Britain and Northern Ireland respectively at the next Seniors World Championships to be held in Turkey in October.
