Chorley Ladies 2 Guiseley AFC Vixens 1

SUPER Sam Cadwallader thumped home a stunning long-range effort to seal victory for Chorley Ladies in their top-of-the-table clash with newly-formed Guiseley AFC Vixens.

The Ladies shrugged off last week’s early cup exit and midweek draw with Stockport to turn in a wonderful team display – capped by brilliant goals either side of Guiseley’s leveller.

The Vixens are a young and energetic side so Chorley had to start fast and they did just that. For within the opening minute, Scarlett Smith skillfully beat three players to smash the ball into the top corner.

Chorley continued with the high pressure but their failure to convert the chances they created looked like it could be crucial as Guiseley drew level just before the break.

The second half was more equal which saw Guiseley hitting the crossbar and Chorley squandering further chances.

But with 20 minutes left, a moment of inspiration from Katherine Bonner found Sam Cadwallader who beat the visiting keeper with a wonderful long range effort in to the bottom corner.

Chorley are on their travels next when they go to Southampton Ladies FC in the FA Plate.
