THE Lancashire Football Association has started a scheme to attract the next Rachel Brown-Finnis to the game.
The county governing body has launched a ‘Girl’s United’ Mini Soccer programme in the hope of developing new talent.
The programme is aimed at girls aged between six and nine years of age who are new to football or for people who want to get involved with a local club.
The launch, at the Lancashire FA headquarters in Leyland, saw the girls involved in skills and small-sided games based on festival football with all sessions led by female coaches.
The programme also launched a full season’s worth of Girl’s United events which will help local Charter Standard clubs to either start or grow their Girls Mini Soccer squads over a longer period of time rather than trying to develop a new team in a short timescale.
More details on the Lancashire Football Association programme are available from the website lancashirefa.com/news.
