SUPER Wayne Cotterill was crowned the Foster’s Small Table champion in a thrilling final at Ighten Leigh Social Club.

And then he re-wrote the record books by bagging the highest break prize to set up a tasty Grand Final clash against Glenn Stevenson at the same venue on Sunday week.

Cotterill took the first two frames, but then opponent Steve Almond got his eye in and turned the tables to leave the outcome of the final on a knife edge at 2-2.

But then Cotterill took charge, rattling in a splendid clearance of 75 to take the title.

Cotterill’s break saw him edge past the previous best of 74, set by Jimmy Waddington.

“It was a fantastic match and we are all looking forward to the Grand Final on August 24,” squad secretary Neil McGovern.

“It promises to be a superb match.”

Entry is free and the final starts at 1pm.

Meanwhile, the Burnley and District Snooker League has teamed up with recruitment agency Rapid Recruitment to sponsor the 2014-15 campaign.

The league’s vice-chairman Paul Thompson worked hard to secure the new deal with the company who opened their first branch in Burnley in 2006.

“This is a fantastic development for the league, and also means we will be able to attract even more players and teams to the league with a substantial increase in prize money for the competitions,” said secretary Neil McGovern.

The league would also like to thank Burnley Golf Club, Lee Owens Electrical Services, Donald Smith Meats and Santas Pizzas for their support.
