MOORLAND schoolboy Ethan Myers is potty about Barcelona wizard Lionel Messi.

So when the 12-year-old got the opportunity to see his hero play at the famous Nou Camp Stadium, Ethan found himself part of Spanish football history.

Argentina forward Messi not only broke the club’s goal-scoring record, he did it in sensational style, netting a hat trick in Barcelona’s thrilling 7-0 win over Osasuna.

“Messi is an unbelievable player, so to be in the stadium for that moment in his career was a dream come true,” said Ethan, who was on a week long school trip to Barcelona with Clitheroe-based Moorland School.

“He is the best player in the world, and I love to watch him play because he has so much speed and skill.”

Ethan, who plays for Barrowford Celtic Under-13 and lives in Worsthorne, added: “We were high up in the Nou Camp Stadium, but we still had a great view of the match.

“It was such a thrilling occasion for everybody who was there. I’ve kept my ticket from the game – it has taken pride of place at home.”

Coach Charlie Jackson, who accompanied the Moorland students in Spain, said: “It was an honour to be there, and the children have not stopped talking about Messi.”
