THE Lancashire Sports Awards judging panel have met to consider 84 nominations in eight categories before the glitzy ceremony to be held at the De Vere Hotel.

The panel, chaired by veteran footballer, Jimmy Armfield, considered nominations from across the county.

He said, “There can only be eight winners in Lancashire, but all the nominees, and those who were nominated in their districts should all be recognised for their achievements.

“We’ve seen that so many volunteers give up their time to coach and volunteer in Lancashire to make sport happen, and the achievements of schools, clubs and individuals never ceases to inspire me.

“We have some amazing talents in Lancashire, and the Lancashire Sports Awards are always an inspiring event for me to be involved with.”

Across all categories there’s a variety of sports that have been recognised showing the cross section of sports and activities available in Lancashire.

The award sponsors, UCLAN, Lancaster University, South Ribble Community Leisure, Thornton Sports, Funds4Clubs and Lancashire Care are all dedicated to support the people of Lancashire get active and stay healthy.
