SOME of the top kick boxing clubs in the country will be in Blackburn this weekend for an East Lancs versus a Best of the Rest showdown.

More than 50 bouts will be held at Audley Sports Centre on Saturday – including English and Commonwealth title fights.

Top of the bill will be Accrington’s Hamayoon Kasser, 17, who will be fighting for the under 65kg Commonwealth title.

The three-time English and two-time British champion from the Fit To Fight Kick Boxing in Accrington takes on Birmingham fighter Luke Jones from Platinum Kick Boxing Club.

The event has been staged by Billy Battrick from Fit To Fight, Jaff Ali from Ali MMA and Paul Ramsey of Ramsey Kick Boxing Club in Blackburn.

“This is a big competition and we have all worked hard together to get it on,” said Battrick. “We hold similar events each year but I think this is going to be one of the biggest to be held in Lancashire.

“We have got some cracking fights on the bill, including Commonwealth, English and Area titles.”

The tournament is scheduled to begin at 1pm and run until 10pm with junior and senior bouts on the bill.

The East Lancs continigent will be made up of Fit To Fight, Ali MMA, Ramsey Kick Boxing, Kokoro, Phoenix Kickboxing and Alf’s Black Belt Academy from Stacksteads who will compete against clubs from Birmingham, Liverpool, Blackpool and the Midlands.

While the main emphasis will be on East Lancs v The Rest, there is From page xx one title fight with a local flavour.

For Chris Garraty of Ramsey Kick Boxing will defend his English title against Danny Parker from Fit To Fight – the third time the pair meet in a title contest.

“This is the third of a best of three fight and should be great,” added Battrick. “They each have a win each and each fight has been really close.”

Also fighting for English titles are David Clarkson of Fit To Fight and Lauren Roberts of Phoenix who will be aiming to win the Women’s English Full Contact title.

Including area titles, there will be a total of 10 championship belts on the line This is going to be one of the biggest events to be held in Lancashire and the clubs thank Tariq Mirza of main sponsors City Private Hire.

Tickets are £15 and can be purchased from any of the gyms or bought on the day.
