ALF Love continued his remarkable feat of producing champions after another incredible medal haul at the World Kick Boxing Championships in Canada.

A total of 32 medals – including seven golds – represented a ‘best ever’ performance after competing on the world stage for the last 14 years.

Alf’s Black Belt Academy has now won a staggering 127 medals since first competing in the World Championships in 2006.

In that time, the head coach has produced 48 world champions as well 40 silver and 39 bronze medals winners.

But he believes there is no secret to the club’s success – just hard work and dedication.

“During the recent half term break, the kids were all in the club training hard. That passion and dedication is the reason why we are so successful.

“There is no secret formula, they get out what they put in and thoroughly deserve everything they win.”

Alf’s own daughter Chloe perfectly sums up what the club is all about after she became a world champion for the 11th successive year in Montreal.

Chloe, 18, who was competing in the women’s section for the first time, won the light contact title in her weight category to take her personal haul to 12 golds, seven silvers and four bronze since winning her first title as an eight-year-old in 2002.

“What Chloe has done demonstrates what we are all about,” added Alf who was a torch bearer at the Olympic Games. “She has won world titles as a junior, a cadet and now as as adult. It’s a great achievement but she has worked hard for it.”

Chloe was one of four fighters who won seven gold medals between them.

She also won a silver and a bronze in the team events.

Shannon Priestley won double gold in the light contact and light contact team alongside Charlotte Fagg and Connor Jones.

Fagg ended up with a three gold medals after winning both light contact and semi contact events in her weight division.

She has now won eight world titles in the last three years – the same amount won by Priestley stretching back to 2006.

Alf’s record-breaking team also included Shannon Bacon who won three silver medals while Jamie Lee Kershaw, Sammi Woodrup and Ryan Grenfell won two each. Harry Hart, Declan Bailey, Connor Jones, Matthew Turner were also silver medal winners.

Shannon Priestley and Charlotte Fagg rounded off a successful championship by adding two bronze medals each while Declan Bailey, Sarah Lennon both won a brace with Ryan Grenfell and Jamie Lee Kershaw winning one each.
