PHIL Campbell’s win in the Champion of Champions made it two top spots in consecutive weekends when he took Mytton Fold Golf Club’s final individual competition of the season.

Campbell’s one over par round over the shortened 16-hole course gave him a four shot lead over second placed Past Captain John Berry.

Chris Chadwick took third ahead of Steve Brooks following a card play-off after they both shot nett 62 rounds.

Gary Aldred came home in fifth with a nett 63 beating both Garry Davies and Baz Hargreaves on a card play-off, but Davies took the Duffers Cup as the highest placed competitor who had not won a club competition so far this season.

The Twos Pot was a three-way split when Aldred birdied the first, while John Parkinson and Phil Clegg did likewise on the ninth.

While the men were fighting over the Champion of Champions and the Duffers Cup, the ladies played for the Bill Almond Memorial Trophy.

Again played over 16 holes, the competition was won by Judith Kay who returned an excellent 35 points. Allison Nuttall took second with 30 points, edging lady captain Patricia Leyland into third on a card play-off.

In the spot prizes Abbie Clegg stuck the longest drive on the seventh, while Allison Nuttall was nearest the pin in two at the 18th.
