THE Clegg family swept the board when Mytton Fold Golf Club held its President’s Day on Sunday.

Club secretary Dave Clegg won the competition outright when he carded 40 points using his handicap of 13 to best effect.

Clegg’s daughter Abbie took the ladies’ section win with 34 points and his wife Linda took third in the ladies’ competition and ‘nearest the pin’ on the 18th to add to his ‘nearest the pin’ on the second.

Clegg’s win was achieved despite the wheels coming off during his round on the 13th hole – literally.

When the axle of his electric trolley snapped it was only due to the kindness of one of his playing partners, Chris Hughes, who took his carry bag off his own trolley and carried so Clegg could transfer his trolley bag and continue.

Runner up in the main competition was Lewis Spencer. In third spot came captain elect Phil Hammond.

Sam Cowan won the ball-rolling competition, while Mickey Walsh took the senior’s section.
