THE Pleasington Ladies Scratch team have retained the LLCGA Scratch Shield trophy completing the hat-trick ‘clean sweep’ of all the trophies available to be won for the second year in a row.

The Scratch Shield is the Lancashire Match Play Trophy and the teams of five players play in county-wide mini leagues home and away throughout April, May, June and July with the winners of each league competing on one day in semi finals and finals.

The finals were held at Bolton Old GC and Pleasington faced Royal Birkdale GC in the semis.

Pleasington had their strongest available team playing with only Brogan Townend missing as she has already gone off to university in America.

The Pleasington team of Nikki Foster, Catherine Roberts, Hollie Vizard, Helen Searle and Jeanette Williams claimed a 4-1 victory.

Pleasington then faced old adversaries Formby Ladies in the final.

After each side won two of the opening four games it went down to the wire, but Williams won on the 16th green to seal the silverware.
