ACCRINGTON golf star Nikki Foster has been selected by England for next week’s European Nations Championships in Spain after a fine start to the season.
The 20-year-old Pleasington member has been chosen alongside Beaconsfield’s Rachel Drummond and Rachael Goodall of Heswall for the event at Sotogrande between March 21 and 24.
All three are members of the top-ranking England women’s Performance squad.
Foster has represented her country in the Home Internationals and, last year, qualified to play in the Women’s British Open at Carnoustie.
She is a past winner of the Royal Birkdale scratch and has been runner-up in both the Scottish and Welsh strokeplay championships and in the English women’s order or merit.
Foster goes to Sotogrande next week having enjoyed a good start to her 2012 campaign while in Spain.
Last month, she finished runner-up in the Murcia Ladies’ Championship.
Meanwhile, Foster’s club-mate at Pleasington, Brogan Townend, suffered a disappointing start to her Faldo Series Asia Grand Final campaign yesterday, going round in 85 on the opening day at China’s Mission Hills Golf Club.
