Mytton Fold Golf Club’s seniors took Cheshire by storm when they visited Portal Golf Club’s Championship and Premier courses last week.
For three days, 33 of the Langho club’s members battled over four competitions, with the highlight being the Frank Hargreaves Memorial Trophy.
Played on the first day over the championship course, the trophy was won by Barry Hargreaves (Division One winner) with 37 points and by Mick Mahon (Division Two winner) with 38 points.
Captain elect Gordon Lucas (36 points) was runner up in Division One, while Mick Walsh (36 points) came second in Division Two.
The second day saw the conclusion of the two-day Autumn Shield and the Andy Capp Trophy. With an excellent 39 points to add to his first day’s 34 points, Frank Havard took both trophies. Eddie Bootle took the Andy Capp runner-up position, with Donald Simpson in third.
The final day saw Mytton Fold’s seniors back to the Premier course and Frank Havard won with 36 points.
