Great Harwood's Coy unlucky at weekend double bill

STEVE Coy put himself forward for the award for unluckiest golfer of the year last weekend at Great Harwood with two agonising second-placed finishes.

On Saturday, Coy missed out in the £500 subs shoot-out to eventual winner Gavin Shaw by just half a shot on a card play-off before ending up as runner-up to CJ Walsh in Sunday’s Coronation Bowl subsidiary event, again on a card play-off.

Past Captain CJ Walsh claimed victory with a nett 68, despite almost throwing it away with a double-bogey six on the final hole.

Coy signed for an 87-19-68 to join Walsh and Tony Skellern (80-12-68) at the top of the leaderboard.
