Late anguish for Nelson pair

NELSON Golf Club Pam Pickles and Lynne Grandfield fell at the last hurdle as they looked to qualify for the Grand Final of the Daily Mail Knockout Pairs competition.

After wins over Townley, Clitheroe, Colne, Great Harwood, West Bradford and Lansil, Grandfield and Pickles travelled to Sheffield to play at Lees Hall Golf Club, but lost their match.

Over 3,000 clubs entered this year’s Daily Mail competitions with the Grand Final for the last 16 pairs to be held at Dalmahoy Golf Club, near Edinbugh.
