Clitheroe’s Ben Scott looks to have missed out on a place in the Open Championship after an opening round of 79 at local final qualifying at Western Gailes in Scotland.

Scott, who had previously progressed through regional qualifying at Pleasington, is currently tied 77th and would need to finish in the top four after today’s second round to reach the Open at Turnberry.

Brockhall-based Harry Proos, who also came through regional qualifying, did not take his scheduled place in local final qualifying at Kilmarnock.
